NFF Drops Edwin Okon As Head Coach Of Super Falcons After Disastrous World Cup

Following the end of his contract, Edwin Okon has left his role as the head coach of Nigeria’s female international team, the Super Falcons.

Okon suffered a terrible campaign at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and it was not surprising that the NFF refused to offer him a new contract.

The chairman of the NFF’s Technical and Development Committee, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu revealed that Okon’s assistant, Christopher Danjuma would manage the team in a caretaker role till a new coaching crew was appointed.

“We commend Okon and his crew for the services rendered to the country, and they did well to reclaim the African Women Championship title for the country in Namibia in October 2014, thus qualifying the team for the Women’s World Cup in Canada”.

“The contract given to the crew has elapsed with the Women’s World Cup in Canada. Mr. Christopher Danjuma will now take over the team in acting capacity, pending the appointment of a substantive coaching crew, which process is ongoing.”
