Standstill as students protest poor sanitary standards, bedbugs

Students of the University of Lagos on Monday shutdown the University in protest against one problem; bedbugs.

Before sunrise on Monday morning, students were already out, blocking the school gates and basically restricting moving in and out of campus.

They came out in protest the University's poor sanitary standards, and there was one major problem all of them had; bedbugs.

In place of placards, they came out with their mattresses to protest, hanging it everywhere a mattress could fit.

They claim their halls have been heavily infested with bedbugs to the point where it has become unbearable to sleep in their rooms.

According to a source in the school, the protests began when a student in Marire Hall woke up screaming in the middle of the night. What is roommates saw was shocking; bedbugs beyond count had swarmed his body,

The school authorities have not released any statement on the matter.
This is not the first time in recent times students of the University have protested against the school authorities.
